October 2018 TBR

It’s a general rule that you put more books on your TBR than you can ever read, right? Right? Well, I hope so. I foolishly went into a library a few days ago and walked out with quite a handful of books. And not all the books on this TBR are from the library.

Gedlund by William Ray – First in the Tales of the Verin Empire.  It’s, that I can recall, the first high fantasy book I’ve picked up that has guns in it. I’ve already started the first chapter here in September but hoping to finish this by the end of the week.

Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant –  This is one of the books I picked up from the library. Most of my library reads were recommended from PaladinJane on Twitter. I’ve started this book as well and it is captivating. I can see myself reading through this book relatively quickly because, you know, it’s about killer mermaids.

Too Like the Lightning by Ada Palmer – Once again, a recommended book. I didn’t even bother checking what it is about. However, reading the description on goodreads, it looks right up my alley. A book about a utopian world that isn’t so utopian.

Seven Surrenders by Ada Palmer – This is the sequel to Too Like the Lightning. I will admit I did not read the description of this book because I don’t want to have anything from the first book given away. I’m excited for this series. It looks really good.

Infomocracy by Malka Older – Picked up from the library. It’s a book about the future where corporations have more power and obvious influence on nations. At least, that’s what I’m getting from the book description. It’s book one of the Centenal Cycle and if I enjoy it, you can bet your bottom I’ll get the other books.

Every Heart A Doorway by Seanan McGuire – This book I have on hold on the library app, Libby. I put it on hold because I got the book Down Among the Sticks and Bones. Both are part of the Wayward Children series. I don’t know if it matters that I will read them in order but here we are.

Down Among the Sticks and Bones – I don’t know if this is a dark retelling of Jack and Jill? The two main characters are twin sisters named Jack and Jill which is what I’m basing that on. It looks good and I’ve been seeing good things.

The Prey of Gods by Nicky Drayden – I will readily admit I got this book because of the cover. A little girl with a robot and both of them are intimidating. Seems like my cup of tea!

If that weren’t enough here is a list of other books I’d like to get to before the end of this month:

  • Nobody’s Damsel by E. M. Tippetts
  • Trail of Lightning by Rebecca Roanhorse
  • Free Chocolate by Amber Royer

Well, let’s see how this all goes! 🙂 What are you all reading for October?

Hope you get lost in a book,

Chrissy
