Synopsis: Grumpy Monkey is about a monkey named Jim Panzee who tells people he’s not grumpy and yet….
My Thoughts:
I originally got this book when my son was in the NICU. It’s the first book I read to him and, I admit, holds a special place in my heart. So, I can’t really say this is an unbiased review. The narration flows well. When I’m reading it to my son, it doesn’t feel awkward or clunky. The reread value, as a parent, is good. The repetition isn’t horrific. I also like the message the book presents: You will not always be in a fabulous mood and that’s okay. You don’t have to force yourself to fake it.
The illustrations are gorgeous. I love the facial expressions Jim Panzee has and can’t wait until my son is old enough to appreciate it.
My Son’s Reaction To Book:
He slept through all readings of this book but I like to think that’s a glowing endorsement. Would recommend.
May you get lost in a book,
Chrissy
Blog Update:
What with the tiny one, I’ll be reading a ton of children’s books. I’ll be reviewing the children’s books I read to him and am going to be posting them on Fridays. While I’m going to try and focus on newer children’s books, I’ll probably have some older ones, too.
